CHARITY INCORPORATION & REGISTRATION
For many starting a ministry, the paperwork that needs to be done to be properly incorporated and registered as a charity, in order to be able to issue tax receipts to donors, can be a daunting task. It can also prove to be very expensive.
Having started eight churches from scratch, Dr. Kees knows the lack of financial resources can be a serious challenge. There rarely is enough money to go around to pay professionals the fees they require to do the incorporation and charitable registration. Fortunately, the laws in North America and the processes to obtain incorporation and charitable registration do not require the services of these professionals. You can do it yourself, however, there are nuances and peculiarities to the processes that you should be aware of to ensure the processes are not delayed unnecessarily and that, in the end, you have what you want in the documentation.
Dr. Kees’ extensive commercial banking background has proved to be of significant assistance in dealing with the legalities and their particular nuances and peculiarities. He also regularly attends a number of legal and other charity seminars to keep abreast of changes in the incorporation and charitable registration processes. Since 1993, he has handled the incorporation and charitable registration for each church the Tengnagels have pioneered and, of course, for ACOFM. In addition, he’s assisted about forty other churches/para-church organizations with their paperwork by acting as their appointed agent.
Having pioneered eight churches from scratch, Dr. Kees understands the financial challenges a new ministry must face. A challenge they don’t need is the thousands of dollars for incorporation and charitable registration that many professionals charge. He has, therefore, kept the fee to complete this work as low as possible. Part of his engagement includes providing the client with sample board meeting agendas, minutes and resolutions to kick off the newly incorporated entity as well as other information pertinent to operating a charity.
If you are interested in having ACOFM handle your incorporation and registration, please contact ACOFM to make arrangements to receive a client package and/or discuss any questions you may have.
